From a variety of materials to different colors and patterns, there are many factors to consider when it comes to choosing the right flooring for your space. Carpet is one of the most popular choices for homeowners because it’s comfortable and practical in most rooms, from bedrooms to living rooms. Whether you’re installing carpeting for the first time or want to upgrade current pieces, this guide will get you ready with everything you need to know about carpet installation and related costs beforehand.

How It Works

Choose your new carpet

You can contact us to meet with a project specialist and have all of your questions answered, or you can order carpet samples from one of our favorite suppliers!

Measure your space

We will come to your home at a time that is convenient for you and take precise digital measurements of your flooring area, as well as noting any unique installation demands.

Review costs

We can provide a quote for your project that includes a final cost for materials and installation as well as financing options to make your dreams a reality.

Remove Old Carpet

We will take up the old carpet and pad, which often have accumulated years of gunk.

Of course, we will check the tack strips to make sure they’re not moldy! We’ll haul off and dispose of the old stuff.

Professional Install

A 1/2″, 6lb pad/underlayment comes with all of our carpet installations (we also have upgraded versions with moisture barriers & all the bells and whistles). In addition to ensuring your carpet is installed correctly so it doesn’t get waves down the road, we make sure to transition between the carpet and connecting floor neatly so you don’t stub your toe daily.

Finally, when we’re done, we’ll give it a final vacuum, put your furniture back and be on our way!

How to choose the right type of carpeting for your space

There are a variety of factors to consider when choosing the right type of carpeting for your space. It’s important to consider the size of the room, the traffic in that room, and the style of your home before choosing a carpet.

For example, an office with a lot of foot traffic should have a more durable carpet, while a bedroom with less foot traffic should have a softer, more luxurious feel.

Finally, when choosing the right type of carpeting for your space, it’s important to consider the style of your home. Different styles, like traditional or modern, will have different materials and designs.

Different Types of Carpet

Loop Pile

Loop pile carpets are made out of tight, compact loops that are bonded together to provide a durable, low-profile surface. The many loops provide a distinct feel and aesthetic appeal. A loop pile carpet has firmly connected loops that resist stains and damage. This sort of carpet is not as cushioned as other designs due to its lack of padding.

This carpet is similar to Berber carpet because it has a 'uncut pile,' or the look of unshorn hair. Berber carpet loops are usually apparent. They are intended for use in high-traffic areas of the home.

Cut Pile

A cut pile carpet is an alternative to a loop pile carpet in which the tufts are not looped. The loops are eliminated because the cut pile carpet is denser and softer. Cut pile carpets are made with a sewing machine that has hundreds of needles.

The depth of the needle punch determines the pile height. The tufts are punched through the carpet backing material and the ends are trimmed to give the carpet a silky, rich feel. This carpet is most commonly found in household settings. Because the threads are cut, cut pile carpet is not as durable as loop pile and needs replacement more often.

Material

Polyester Carpet

Polyesters are synthetic fibers that are hypoallergenic and brilliant in color. Polyesters made from recycled plastic bottles that are environmentally beneficial are also available. Polyester carpet is available in a variety of shapes and textures, ranging from inexpensive to exquisite. Although polyester carpet is less durable than nylon carpet, it comes in a variety of designs and textures.

Polyesters are simple to flatten, making them an excellent choice for low-traffic areas such as guest rooms. Polyesters collect oil and stains and should be cleaned often. Polyesters are reasonably priced, ranging from $1 to $5 per square foot. They are, however, not as long-lasting as nylon or wool. Polyester carpets are appropriate for low-traffic areas such as guest rooms.

Olefin Carpet

Olefin carpet, which is made from petroleum, is less expensive to manufacture than nylon carpet. It's not as soft as nylon, but it's still comfortable to walk on. Because of its sturdiness, it is an excellent choice for outdoor or basement uses.

It is comparable to real wool and hence an excellent substitute for synthetic wool. It is an extremely cost-effective method of obtaining a wool-like carpet. It is especially frequent in loop pile carpet patterns. It is extremely resistant to mold and mildew, making it an excellent choice for basements and patios.

Wool Carpet

Wool carpets are durable and luxurious, making them a popular option for high-traffic areas. They also contain no chemical allergens, making them a good choice for allergy sufferers.

On the more expensive side, eco-friendly wool is available in a number of grades and costs between $5 and $26 per square foot. Wool is more costly, but lesser grade synthetics are more likely to discolor or retain dirt. Wool carpet, on the other hand, is one of the most cost-effective and long-lasting alternatives available. Wool carpet is susceptible to mildew and should be kept in areas with low humidity and wetness, such as the bedroom. Wool carpet should not be used outside.
